Full Job Description
MJD Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a highly regarded professional services business to recruit a Senior Legal Assistant / Career Paralegal to join their collaborative Hawthorn Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a capable legal support professional who enjoys taking ownership, managing files from start to finish and being an integral part of a busy practice.

Working across Succession, including estate planning and deceased estates, as well as Property and Commercial law, this role offers a broad mix of legal administration, file management, drafting and client liaison. It would suit someone who genuinely enjoys paralegal work, thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in keeping matters moving.

Your Role
Supporting Directors and fee earners, you will:
  • Manage the day-to-day progression of matters across Succession, Property and Commercial
  • Open and close files, prepare scopes and pricing, and manage general file administration
  • Obtain billing instructions, assist with billing and ensure matters are progressed efficiently
  • Monitor workflows, deadlines and key next steps across matters
  • Follow up with clients and deliver a responsive, professional client experience
  • Assist lawyers to actively manage their files, priorities and outstanding actions
  • Prepare initial drafts of estate planning documents, probate applications and selected commercial documentation under lawyer direction
  • Manage competing priorities and take ownership of moving files through each stage
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to junior support staff and help keep the team organised
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You Have
  • Experience as a senior Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary or career Paralegal
  • Exposure to Succession, estate planning, deceased estates, Property and/or Commercial law
  • Strong legal administration, drafting and file management capability
  • Confidence liaising directly with clients and progressing matters independently
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A practical, proactive and mature approach, with confidence to hold your own in a busy team
  • A genuine interest in building a long-term career as a Paralegal
