Operations Manager

MJD Recruitment is partnering with a growing Australian business to appoint an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and optimise end-to-end operational performance across logistics, warehousing, procurement support and business systems.

This is a senior operational leadership role supporting the Directors by taking full ownership of day-to-day operations, team leadership, governance and continuous improvement. The focus is on ensuring the business runs efficiently, compliantly and with strong commercial discipline, while enabling the Directors to focus on growth, strategy and supplier relationships.

Working closely with senior stakeholders across Procurement, Sales, Finance and Warehousing, you will play a critical role in driving operational cadence, improving systems and ensuring accountability across all functions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide senior operational leadership across warehousing, logistics and business operations, ensuring consistent delivery, efficiency and accountability across all functions
• Act as the primary operational escalation point for the Directors, resolving issues, removing blockers and driving timely decision-making
• Oversee coordination of all incoming vessel activity, ensuring end-to-end alignment across freight, procurement, warehousing and customer requirements
• Manage and optimise supply chain workflows, ensuring accurate scheduling, communication and execution across all stakeholders
• Partner closely with Procurement and Sales teams to align inventory, demand planning and inbound logistics with commercial requirements
• Oversee warehouse performance through the Warehouse Manager, ensuring KPIs, safety standards, productivity and quality control measures are consistently met
• Lead operational reporting, including performance dashboards, cost tracking, and analysis of logistics, freight and warehousing efficiency
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across systems, processes and workflows, including automation and operational standardisation
• Support procurement and supplier management activities, including freight forwarders and logistics partners, ensuring service levels and cost efficiency are maintained
• Lead compliance, WHS and risk management across operational functions, ensuring all regulatory and internal requirements are met
• Support Directors with project delivery, including business improvement initiatives, system implementations and cross-functional projects
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational structure, communication flow and business rhythm across teams
• Maintain accurate operational documentation, reporting frameworks and governance standards
• Travel regularly to warehouse and operational sites to ensure visibility, performance oversight and team alignment

About You

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in an operations or senior operations role
• Experience within agriculture or agriculture-adjacent industries (including agribusiness, food production, FMCG, logistics, import/export or commodity supply chains) highly regarded
• Proven experience leading teams across logistics, warehousing, supply chain or multi-site operations
• Strong capability in operational planning, coordination and execution at scale
• Commercially astute with strong understanding of freight, procurement and cost drivers
• Confident managing senior stakeholders and acting as an escalation point for complex issues
• Strong leadership capability with experience overseeing or managing operational teams
• Highly organised with excellent analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills
• Strong systems capability including ERP platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Operations or related field preferred
